1. Abnormal vaginal discharge
In between periods, some women might experience a mild discharge from the vagina. While this is nothing to worry about, a foul-smelling discharge could be one of the early warning signs and symptoms of cervical cancer. This occurs due to the death and disintegration of cells in the cervix. Sometimes there could be an infection of the tumor that can lead to abnormal smelling discharge. This discharge can be brown or pale white in color. In some cases, it can be watery or even have traces of blood in it.

2. Pain in the lower back
Though there are a number of factors that can cause lower back pain, a growing tumor in the cervical region could also be one of the factors. This can sometimes occur along with pain in the lower abdomen.

3. Changes in menstrual periods
If you notice sudden changes in your periods, you should consult your doctor as these could be some of the early warning signs and symptoms of cervical cancer. Irregular periods or even mild to moderate bleeding in between your regular periods should not be ignored. If the bleeding is heavier than usual and if it persists for consecutive cycles, it could be a red flag. Another sign is when the length of the periods is longer than your normal duration. 4. Pain in the pelvis
Pelvic pain is another common symptom in women with cervical cancer. This sometimes occurs due to the tumor exerting pressure in the pelvic region. Unlike pain due to other causes, pain due to cervical cancer is continuous. This is very common in cases where cancer has progressed rapidly. The pain worsens as the tumor continues to grow.

5. Painful intercourse
Cervical cancer might result in painful intercourse. Occasional and mild pain might not be a thing to worry about. But if the pain persists, you should check with your doctor. Another sign could be bleeding after intercourse.
